Bake Your Own Panettone

The king of Italian Christmas baking, made from scratch

Italian Panettone
Panettone is serious business in Italy. Every Christmas, families gather around the table and spend hours debating whose Panettone is better, which bakery got it right this year. It is such a big deal, in fact, that there are words in Italian that exist specifically to describe the making of Panettone.

Now you can make your own, the authentic way, guided by an Italian who has been practicing every Christmas for the past few years. In this hands-on class in Hampstead, you will bake together with me and learn the real process behind Italy's most celebrated festive bake. From mixing and developing the dough to the "pirlatura", the Italian shaping technique that gives Panettone its characteristic tall, domed form, and the "scarpatura", the precise cut that opens up the top before baking. You will go home with a Panettone ready to bake and with the knowledge to make it again. And next Christmas you will be the culinary hero of family and friends.
